Microdermal implants

Jewelled Mircodermal Eye
Microdermal implants or dermal anchors are the latest piercing trend. They are often referred to as a single point piercing.
The anchors are implanted under the skin with only one entry point, and with skill can be placed, to enhance tattoos, and virtually anywhere on the body.

Unlike the normal surface piercings which have a rejection rate of over 80%, dermal anchor rejection rates are as low as 2 % thus making them a much safer and more permanent alternative.
To avoid problems with metal allergies and possible rejection issues anchors insert should be of high grade titanium, surgical steel is considered unacceptable.
Most anchors have tiny holes in the foot part for body tissue to grow around and become stable and more permanent, this makes removal a little more difficult.
There can be some scarring left by removal so think carefully before proceeding with the procedure.
If you are considering removing your anchor at some stage in the future there are anchors with solid feet that can be used instead.
We use numbing creams to minimize any pain, the anchors are inserted with a minimum of trauma, any redness, swelling and bruising (uncommon) resolves very quickly.
Healing differs a little from person to person and the site of the piercing. Healing times are quicker than for most piercings and after a week or two they are well settled. Complete healing times 3 to 6 months.
Problems are uncommon, catching them during the healing phase appears to be the most common, care is needed over the first week or two to avoid this.
Good placement by the piercer can often minimize this. Steri strips may cut down the risks.
Infections are always a risk with any piercing that is why it is important that you choose an experienced piercer with good anatomy knowledge and techniques.

DERMAL PIERCING
Dermal piercings usually take 6-10 weeks to heal; they usually heal without any problems. They will be slightly tender for several days after the piercing, and a little swollen, this gradually goes away.
Until the scar tissue develops fully, and the little feet settle into the body the piercing can easily be torn, . If this happens after the piercing is healed, you will have to treat the piercing as a new wound again, or you could develop an infection.
Signs include thick yellow pus coming from the wound, or any excessive redness around the wound. If you think there may be an infection, return and see me or see a physician..
Leave your dressing intact for the first 5 days then start cleaning it as below
DO'S & DON'TS TO HEAL YOUR DERMAL PIERCING
THE NUMBER ONE REASON FOR INFECTION IS TOUCHING AND PLAYING WITH THE PIERCING, ONLY TOUCH THE PIERCING WHEN YOU ARE CLEANING IT!
Wash your hands with antibacterial soap before touching the piercing.
there may be some spots of blood, this is normal and will wash off easily.
Have a shower, cup your hand under the piercing and soak it with water for 3-4 minutes. If soaking doesn't remove any congealed blood on the jewellery you must remove it in the shower using a clean cotton wool bud.
DO use a mild antibacterial soap (like Protex or Dettol), in the shower (once a day only!). Cup your hand under the piercing and soak it for 1-2 minutes.
Make sure all your shampoos, soaps, moisturisers and tanning oils are washed thoroughly from your piercing.
You can also use Saline solution (available at any chemist). Rinse with fresh water and dry thoroughly with a clean tissue afterwards.
This process is the best way to promote healing, and the more you do it, the quicker your piercing will heal.
Alternatively, you can use a cleaning solution such as studex recommended by your piercer.
DO make sure, when washing, you remove all the crusting, this is painful and can lead to infection. Secondly, if its not removed bacteria can feed on it and infect the wound.
DO make sure that you dry your piercing thoroughly after cleaning; this should be done with a paper tissue; as towels can harbour bacteria, and catch and tear the jewellery out.
DO use antiseptic studexl; as it promotes healing. Apply a small amount with a cotton-wool bud after cleaning..
DO use the cleaning solution after going swimming in the ocean or public pools, but remember no swimming in a public pool or spa pool for at least 2 weeks after your piercing.
Baths are not recommended for a month following a piercing.
DO make sure that you wash the piercing carefully after exercising or sweating, as sweat acts like acid and can cause the wound to become aggravated.
DO give the piercing some sunshine as it helps the body produce Vitamin D which helps promote healing. It also helps dry the wound and minimise infections.
Avoid moving the jewellery constantly as this aggravates the wound and delays healing.
DON'T use Methylated Spirits, or alcohol on the piercing as they are very astringent and can damage the wound, don't use Hydrogen peroxide because it will destroy the cells that form scar tissue, don’t use creams or ointments as they keep the wound moist and hamper the healing process.

Check the little ball is on tight, once a day.
They screw on clock wise you will have to hold the base of the anchor still while doing this.
