FAQ's Frenum Piercing

Frenum

Frenum piercings are what I consider the best starting point for male piercings

These piercings are done by our onsite Registered Nurse

price including effective numbing and jewellery

Cost $250

Frenum piercings are inserted on the under side of the penis head in what is often referred to as the libido triangle.

Jewellery placed in this area can be very stimulating for the male and their partners.

With numbing there is little or no pain, they are easy to care for and they heal very quickly usually in 4 to 6 weeks.

Frenum piercings are placed under the line of the foreskin attachment to the 'head' of the penis, taking care that the foreskin is not restricted in movement.

All genital piercings are anatomy dependant that's why you should always go to an experienced piercer.

Migration can happen but these piercings seldom grow out.

Jewellery can be a barbell or ring its a personal choice, gauge should be 14g or above. My preference to start this piercing is 14g barbell of PTFE (surgical plastic type material) .

A word of warning care must be taken that the barbell is sized properly and allows some room for an erection, if it isn't this can be exceptionally painful I'm told.

If you are thinking about getting a genital piercing, please no alcohol the night before. Alcohol thins the blood and increases the risk of bleeding and bruising

Aftercare

Initial healing time approximately 4 to 6 weeks

Genital piercings often spot bleed for between 12 and 24 hours, depending on the depth and type  of piercing.

Male piercing may spot bleed when the client has an erection for the first 48 hours

My expectation is 3 or 4 tiny spots only

Deep piercings may spot for several days

If you experience any  bleeding more than the few spots please contact me

Unscented panty liners may be worn in case of bleeding.

If your piercing is uncomfortable once the numbing has worn off you may wish to take panadol or nurofen, remember to follow the manufactures guidelines regarding these and use the one you have taken safely .

Remember that your piercing is a wound, there will be a little tenderness, swelling and discolouration and possibly bruising and itching.

A normal part of the healing process is the secretion of yellow fluid, that dries and forms a crust about the Jewellery.

Never touch your piercing without washing  your hands

  • The best place to clean your piercing is the shower, use Protex  antibacterial soap Lather the area well  and leave for a minute before rinsing  the piercing thoroughly to ensure no trace of soap is left behind. A clean cotton bud will help remove any crusts left behind.

  • Twice a day for the first 2 weeks, soak your piercing in a saline solution, for around 10 minutes.

A saline solution can be made using 1/4 teaspoon of salt to one cup of warm boiled water.
  • don't be tempted to use lots of fancy lotions and ointments as they can make the piercing and surrounding skin red and sore.(its very sensitive skin)

  • Drink plenty of water (6 to 8 glasses  a day ) to dilute your urine ..

Healthy urine is bug free, but can sting on the way out

  • Take care with alcohol and fuzzy drinks as they can make the urine quite acidic.

  • DO NOT use any creams, ointments on your piercing , this includes betadine  and antibiotic creams, as they may irritate  the sensitive surrounding skin and kill off the normal healthy bacteria that live in that area . This  can  cause thrush and other types of infections.

  • DO NOT swim in any public swimming pools, spa pools or baths for at least two weeks. Swimming in the sea and rivers is fine just make sure you wash the sand out of the piercing.

  • NO changing your Jewellery for at least a  month, stretchy up to heavier gauges should be left until 6 weeks

  • use water based lube like KY or Wetstuff when changing your jewellery, a little on the jewellery helps it slide through gently

  • Piercing tend to reflex your general health so taking a good quality multivitamin is advisable

Resuming sexual activity

  • Sexual activity can be gently resumed, with in the first few days.

  • BE GENTLE if it hurts change position

  • Use a condom for the first 4 weeks if the piercing is still tender then continue using  condoms each time you have sex  for another 2 weeks.

  • DO NOT allow your piercing to come into contact with another persons bodily fluids including saliva and semen  for at least 4 weeks longer if your piercing is still tender.
A barrier like a condom or glad wrap is reccomened

  • to get the condom on easier place a small drop of water based lube on the ball on the ring helps the condom roll over without tearing

  • If lubricant is required during this time make sure it is a water based one like wet stuff or KY with no flavourings , use sparingly and wash it out well as soon as possible

  • Once your piercing is healed there should be no pain during sex , if there is, this is often that the jewellery is too big or too small

Some partners complain about the jewellery knocking on their teeth during oral sex, once your piercing is well healed take the jewellery out if this is a problem, this should be fine for around 10minutes. Remember to use water based lube on the jewellery to reinsert ring.

Removing piercings for Surgery, scans/x-rays

You are often requested to do this and depending on the age of your piercing this can lead to the piercing closing up.
Use bioflex or PTFE with plastic balls, they not only keep your piercing open but the are safe to scan etc
